About our Founder - Dean Devore
Dean was raised in a family dealership that spanned three generations. He became a factory certified technician at 15 years old. By 18 he had obtained his Master Technician certification and moved into the dealership’s Parts Department.
After college Dean went to work for Outboard Marine Corporation in the Parts and Service Department for Evinrude and Johnson Outboards. Working his way through positions in Technical Training, Parts Sales, and Parts Marketing he eventually became the Director of Parts and Accessories. Dean was recruited to join other global manufacturers in leadership roles focused on service parts.
Over a 30-year period Dean has lead Parts Divisions in 5 global companies, working in 14 different industries, with 26 leading brands. Under his leadership, the parts divisions have consistently grown revenue and increased gross margins while improving fill rates and inventory turns. During this time, Dean had the opportunity to work with over 5,600 independent dealers that stocked parts and serviced the equipment his companies produced.
In 1998 Dean launched a Parts Training Program for dealers with the help of industry veteran Ben Sherwood. The overwhelming response from dealers was the catalyst for a long-term vision. He was determined to one day create a training program to certify Parts Department employees as professionals. Years later Parts Academy was launched.
